Christmas Lights Music Extravaganza

Christmas festivities kick-off in Croydon this week with some show stopping entertainment. Internationally-renowned ensemble Absolutely Opera! will perform before actor Larry Lamb carries out the switch-on ceremony outside the Whitgift Centre on Thursday. Charlotte Collier who combines being a partner for Croydon-based Atkins Hope Solicitors with a professional singing career, is excited about the prospect of taking to the stage on such a prestigious occasion for the town.' On 16th May a number of people at Atkins Hope completed the London Legal Sponsored Walk. The 10KM walk is organised by the London Legal Support Trust  (LLST) to raise money for access to justice, including Law Centres such as the South West London Law Centre. Read more.

Sound Off for Justice

The government faced intense lobbying over its legal aid reforms this week, as the Law Society put forward a raft of alternative measures to preserve the legal aid budget. The Society also launched a high-profile internet campaign, ‘Sound off for justice’, aimed at making members of the public aware of how legal aid cuts will affect them and asking members of the public to sign up to oppose legal aid cuts. The site warns that ‘over 30 million British people are about to be silenced by the government’ by losing their right to legal representation.
