Christmas Lights Music Extravaganza
From the Croydon Today, Tuesday 15 November:
Christmas festivities kick-off in Croydon this week with some show-stopping entertainment.
Internationally-renowned ensemble Absolutely Opera! will perform before actor Larry Lamb carries out the switch-on ceremony outside the Whitgift Centre on Thursday.
Charlotte Collier, who combines being a partner for Croydon based Atkins Hope Solicitors with a professional singing career, is excited about the prospect of taking to the stage on such a prestigious occasion for the town.
She said "Our programme is call A Christmas Confection and we are the last performers before the Christmas lights are switched on so we are planning to have a lot of fun.
"We will be singing some opera, light classical and seasonal tunes and we will be encouraging some audience participation so it should be a great occasion"
Through her contacts, Charlotte will be joined onstage by Helen Withers (Soprano) and Neil Baker (baritone).
Both are well established members of Absolutely Opera!
Helen has won a host of prizes including at the London Handel Singing Competition. Neil is a popular soloist with choral societies all over the UK and has worked extensively in Europe as well as the Barbican.
Charlotte has toured extensively throughout the UK with Carl Rosa as well as singing for Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park.
