Croydon College Essay Competition
Atkins Hope Solicitors has built a connection with Croydon College over recent years including training sessions and events and most recently the firm sponsored an Essay competition at the College. The subject of the essay was selected from many suggestions put forward by Atkins Hope Staff. The winning suggestion, proposed by Karen Campbell was selected at the Atkins Hope Solicitors LLP Christmas Lunch in December 2010 and was entitled 'Public funding – a loan in all cases?'
The enthusiasm of the students and Tutors for the competition and the essay title were clear when a number of pertinent questions were asked about legal aid and the nature of firms that maintain a commitment to it in an increasingly difficult environment.
The hard work and research came to fruition at the inaugural Croydon Law Society Summer Ball on Friday 1st July 2011attended by students, Tutors and a number of Partners and Staff from Atkins Hope at the Croydon Airport Hotel. There were a number of prizes awarded on the night with the Essay Prize being the biggest with a cheque and a two week internship with the firm. The presentation to the winner, Damian Moran was made by Jerry Bull, Partner with Atkins Hope.
Atkins Hope will continue its association with Croydon College in supporting a Mooting Competition later in the year.
